On a few occasions, Denny was commissioned to write music for plays. In addition to that, he wrote the script plus music for a radio drama which is a bit tricky to relate to contemporary audiences. Among the small compendium, of plays he wrote the music for, one is dedicated to a distant cousin and Poet - Will Carleton, while another is entitled The Phantom Tollbooth.
Additionally, for one particular year, the Willoughby Fine Arts Association asked Denny to write two songs for a play that they were doing about Ohio. (Note: This is a different play from what is listed below.) One of the songs he wrote for the occasion was Beautiful Spring [audio, lyrics] and the other was O-h-i-o (spelled out) [audio]. The following year, these songs were sung again in a play, this time by the Peaceful Children Montessori School.
