The Fest
One of the most popular Christian events in the area is the Fest, an outdoor Catholic Christian Rock Festival oriented for the family. Although Catholic it is very Ecumenical and many Chrisrians of all denominations come to enjoy the fun and music.
Typically drawing close to 30,000 people, artists this year included Jeremy Camp and Matt Maher. Performing
in previous were Michael W. Smith, Super Chick, Steven Curtis Chapman and others. Highlighing the entire event
is the Mass, (Service)at the end of which is a fireworks display.
The band that plays during the Mass (Service) has two electric guitars (one of them is Denny),
two acoustic guitars, a bass, two keyboards, percussion, drums, and a director.
Eight different lead singers perform with 500 back up singers, from all over Northeastern Ohio. Denny has
played lead guitar in the Fest Band for the Mass from 2003-2007. This is the only event for which he plays
the electric guitar during the year; usually he plays acoustic guitar.
Denny has fun playing music for God with such good musicians, plus encouraging the young in faith.
"It's a great sight to see everyone out there praising God when we lead them in musical worship, and also to look back at all the smiling faces in the Fest Choir." -Denny
It's quite a big ordeal to play the Fest, and artists have to be on alert constantly, because of the
length of Communion and Offertory
(significant parts of the Mass); the songs could go as long as seven or eight minutes, with key changes
whenever the director indicates.
Not only is the Fest Ecumenical, but it likewise appeals to all ages. This blend of worship, music and fellowship is a wonderful opportunity to let the Spirit lift the spirit...a definite treat for everyone!
