Welcome to My World

2nd edition with addendum

Denny Carletons' Welcome To My World is a memoir of the path less taken of a Cleveland Rocker from the 1960s who played in notable Cleveland Bands the Lost Souls, Choir and Moses . After the rockin 60s The book takes you through his journey as a praise and worship leader, singer songwriter and caregiver for his parents. Many stories that either reveal unbelievable coincedences or else the loving. hand of God the Father (depending on your viewpoint). The book weaves between musical and spiritual revelatory experiences in the Holy Spirit, being serious yet humerous at the same time. Not for everyone but 5 stars for others. For example Denny sings at an Indian Pow Pow and is confronted, at the same time by an Indian women who wants his music to be more inclusive and also a Christian Fundamentalist who is very dogmatic.A book for our time that offers a vision in a conflicted world but manages to be a light hearted and a easy read. Welcome to My World is a good example of the New Evangelalization .One person telling their story and experience to a friend in a real and non judgemental way.

Denny's life, highlights

Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2019

Denny Carleton is a survivor of some of the most important cultural episodes of our lifetimes. A resident of the Cleveland Ohio area, he lived out a life in the world of rock music, in which he made contact with many of the greats who both came through there and rose from there, including providing service to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Something that many people might not know is that a strong percentage of rockers from the 1960s have come to either an adult faith of their childhood or been radically converted. Denny tells the tale of trying to make his way as a pilgrim toward the Heavenly City while keeping his hand to the plow of the work that God called him to, performing music and teaching music and publishing music, and working in music for worship. I found it a very interesting read, mainly because he name-checks very many of the persons and places and movements that show up in my own history--a kid from the "north shore", Lake Erie, who both met Jesus and continues to play the music I loved in my own youth.. Thank you Denny.

Enter Denny's World

I really liked this book. Denny writes his story the way it should be done. Down to earth, with inspirational insight on his life, family and the many hundreds of people who shaped his career path including his spiritual dedication to Jesus. Denny "hones-in" on the reality of traveling a road of making music a career in a way that will keep you reading on. The amazing people he came to know and lost, to the ones that are still a huge part of his life are all here. He's played with the best musicians this world has to offer, been in many great notable Cleveland bands and he continues teaching music locally and entertaining people of all ages.

If you love music, travel into the world of Denny Carleton. He's an inspiration to anyone interested in making music a lifetime achievement. Highly recommended read.

A Wonderful and Inspiring Read

Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2016

Welcome to My World, the memoirs of Cleveland musician Denny Carleton is a
wonderful and inspiring read! Journeying from the 1960’s to present day,
this book takes a nostalgic look at Cleveland music as seen through the eyes
of an accomplished musician/composer and teacher. More than a mere
historical review, it is a moving and spiritual work, well with its time.
